Do you like Kimchi?

Kimchi has been listed as one of the top five "World's Healthiest Foods" for being rich in vitamins, aiding digestion, and even possibly reducing cancer growth.

There are hundreds of different types of Kimchi which are traditionally made at different times of the year, depending on seasonal availability of the ingredients. For example in summer young radishes and cucumbers are utilised whilst in the colder Winter months Chinese-Korean Cabbage is more popular.

The trademark of any Kimchi is that it boasts of a complexity of the five tastes—bitter, sweet, spicy, salty and sour.

The linguistic roots of ‘Kimchi’ may be traced to ‘hamchae,’ which means ‘salt-pickled vegetables.’ Did you know that Sauerkraut from Germany is also a type of Kimchi? It is made with shredded cabbages fermented in a 2.0-2.5% salt solution.

Now - will you be able to identify and taste 10 different kinds of Kimchi? And are you ready to get hands on making some?
