Over the past few days, people have been asking, 'What can I do to help Michael?' Here are some ideas that just about anyone can do...

1) Check your blood type.

2) If you're B-, contact Tim Witman who will pass the information onto Michael's ...
wife.

3) Ask anyone you meet if they have a blood donation card or heon hyeol jeung in Korean and ask them politely if you can have it. Take any that you acquire to the Underground Grocers.

4) Write something about Gwangju for the Gwangju Blog. This may sound strange, but it WILL help. Among his many other duties, Michael is one of those responsible for sourcing contributions for the blog. Writing a post will help ensure that things continue to run smoothly in his absence. Possible subjects include: restaurant and movie reviews, events in Gwangju and surrounding area, interesting sights or people, etc. Please send your contributions to either hugh_dima@hotmail.com or eltonlalcare@hotmail.com. We will ensure that they are published in due course.

5) Support The Underground Grocers and The First Alleyway.

6) Make a donation. An account has been set up at the GIC to help Michael and his family cope with any unforeseen expenses that might arise. Please call or visit the GIC for details of how to give.

7) Check the Michael Simming Fan Club regularly. When you see information that could be of use to the wider community, please pass it on to other blogs and sources of information. However, in doing so we would ask that you not alter the content as this often leads to confusion.

*For the moment, we would ask that anyone thinking of holding a fund-raising event on Michael's behalf wait before doing so. There is already something in the works, and it makes little sense to counter program. Instead, please hold onto your idea. I'm sure it will be a tremendous help at a later time.

Thank-you for all your efforts,
Elton Laclare
