Gwangju Metropolitan City's 8th Chungjang Festival entitled 'Remembrance of 7080 Chungjang Recollection Festival’ will begin today, Sept 27th, on Chungjangro in Dong-gu.

With this year's theme ‘Remembrance and Wishes,’ the festival is expected to be attended by around 10,000 residents and tourists from Korea and abroad.

A total of 46 programs including the opening ceremony parade, a band competition and food stalls selling snacks of the past have been planned for the duration of the festival.

The festival will run until Oct 2nd. At the opening ceremonies, representatives of fifty local and civic groups, foreign performance teams and tourists, including many from Guangzhou, China.


The festival will end with a street parade that will mobilize a long motorcade and a procession of performance teams, marching from Suchang Elementary School through to Geumnamro Park.

During the festival period, many small musical performances will be held throughout Chungjangro and Geumnamro.
